News Flash! - The Peace Tree Pilgrims are on the Road again....

(Planting trees at Camphill "Off the Grid Music festival" - James Sleigh, Ayala and Beverley Bardallo from Wastemart)

In September 2016, they inspired a local farmer to plant 108 trees. All that was required of them was to make sure that would re-route their journey through this delightful village called Tesselaarsdal, previously named “Peertjiesdorp” and they did.

With the guidance of our very own “Naked” Botanist, Dr David Gwynne-Evans who will be documenting the flora and fauna along the way, inspired by the delightful stories of Geoff Dalglish, an intrepid pilgrim and Eco-Warrior from Findhorn, Scotland and Ayala Katz, enviro-pilgrim and inspirator, not to forget to mention the phenomenal support of WASTEMART, who have made this possible. Along with our fellow pioneering Pilgrims we will be setting off on our way on the 12th March from Kleinsandfontein in the Swartberg for five days to the GREENPOP reforest festival at Platbos over 108km’s away.

Walking through the aftermath of the wheat harvest, over pristine mountainous terrain, which the farmers in Tesselaarsdal area have successfully reclaimed from Alien vegetation. A true inspiration for the vision of the Swartberg we have left behind. We get to taste delicious home-baked bread, share local wines and get to taste cheese made exclusively in the district.

Wild camping under the stars, sharing stories and food prepared by the locals, meeting farmers living sustainably, we also get to walk through private nature reserves and discover ancient forests, world heritage sites; generously received by the community from Flower Valley and hear their dreams and visions.

Then there is the excitement when after five days, only half of the entire Pilgrimage as two routes will be launched in the Spring of September 2017, we are joined by members of the “Heart Space” community into the Reforest Festival at Platbos where we join our GREENPOP family to play, sing, dance and join the TREEVOLUTION!
